THREE WORLDS: 2 - ITALY 2007
by Maurice Mattei

I returned to Italy with my wife and our two young boys in October of last year. We stayed for the entire month and went to a number of places that I had never visited and others that I hadn't visited in over 20 years. We traveled to areas - such as Rome and Cinque Terre - that are very popular tourist destinations. I've generally not done much of that in the past so this was somewhat of an exception to my regular routine. I have been going to Italy to see my family every so often since 1969 and, starting in 1977, I have taken photographs to document my trips. For a variety of reasons, I did not anticipate shooting many pictures on this most recent stay but, as it turned out, I ended up using 13 rolls of film. The 37 photographs in this presentation are the best of the work prints (images printed to see if they may or may not work as finished prints) taken from the rolls I shot. If I ever come to actually completing the final prints it is unlikely that I will use all the images shown here. However, I thought that it might be of some interest to put together as many of the pictures as possible from this series in order to give the viewer a more accurate sense of what we experienced during our trip. I hope that you agree.
