One of the things I enjoy about doing a show - whether it be a musical performance or an art exhibition - is designing the poster that accompanies the event. I use various sources for the images. I may use photographs I've shot, things I've drawn or pictures pulled from books and the internet. Essentially, it depends on what takes the least amount of time to put together and seems most appropriate to the given event.
